The International Year of Astronomy is a major focal point for astronomical based outreach activities being planned for 2009, with national web sites and contact points being set up throughout the international astronomy community.

Setpoint Greater Manchester is UK coordinator for Universe Awareness, one of the 11 Global Cornerstone Projects.
