Schools involved in robotics and electronics 2007/8:

  • St George's RC High School, Worsley,
  • Sale High School, Sale.


St George's - entered the European Science on Stage Event - a group of year 3 students researched and built a solar powered crawling biomemetic robot bug, which they presented to their European colleagues in Oberhausen, Germany at Easter 2008 see News and Reports.



Sale High School science club spent a total of 12 weeks, in two sets of six week sessions.  Dueing their first session set pupils built a remote controlled 4 leg walking robot, and during the second session pupils assembled and soldered an infra-red beam transmitter - receiver pair which detected the breaking of the infra-red beam and then sounding an on board alarm.

 

Other activities in the exciting field of Robotics have included:

  • Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester
  • Stockport Art Agllery, Stockport

Where hundresds of youngsters with their parents were encouraged to build a kit of their own to take away.
