Bugs, birds and bushes

Activity content:
An activity suitable for Foundation Stage
Taking approximately 30 to 45 minutes

Pupils are introduced to some very simple ecology.
Looking at pictures of some common birds.
The feeding habits of these birds are discussed.  (what do they eat?)
Do they feed in the bushes or on the ground?
Pupls see pictures of brightly coloured insects such as wasps and ladybirds, which birds do not eat - they learn to avoid them.
Pupils then construct the principle that the eible ones will hide whilst the bright ones will not.
